To load custom materials in fighterz there are a few things to take care of. You cant just assign a new material to your Skeletal Mesh in Unreal Engine 4 as the game loads materials by Material ID Order no matter what material is assigned in the skeletal mesh. For this tutorial we load my custom character material so we can use the scaling outline material. First we need to import the Material in Unreal Engine 4. Once thats done you can put it anywhere you want. Right click the material and select Create Material Instance.
That Instance can now be used to replace a existing material. Since we want to replace the character material we need to navigate to the original material instance location. In our case that would beChara/BRS/Costume01/Material/Color01/MI_BaseBodyso rename the new material instance you just created to MI_BaseBody and put it in the correct path.
Once you set your textures in the Instance we can cook our project. Make sure you pack your mod with the new parent material AND the new created material instance to replace the original instance.
